John Gerber

John teaches Agricultural  Systems Thinking, Junior Writing, and two GenED classes, Botany for Gardeners and Plants in Our World at the University of Massachusetts where he is Professor in the Stockbridge School of Agriculture.

John was Director of the University of Massachusetts Cooperative Extension System (1992 to 2000) and Assistant Director of the University of Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station (1989-1992).  He has a B.S. from the University of Rhode Island in Botany and an M.S. and Ph.D in Agroecology from Cornell University.  He is an avid gardener and raises chickens in his suburban backyard.
